Do you want to have access to reliable knowledge about technology and society? If so, we invite you to financially support the Coalition for Independent Technology Research, who organize, sustain, and fight for the people who are creating the knowledge that an informed public needs.
Research can help us understand ourselves more clearly, identify problems, hold power accountable, imagine the world we want, and test ideas for change. In a democracy, this knowledge comes from academics, journalists, civil society, and community scientists, among others. Because independent research on digital technologies is a powerful force for the common good, it also faces powerful opposition.
The Coalition for Independent Technology Research works to advance, defend, and sustain the right to ethically study the impact of technology on society. We advocate for researcher rights, support ethics standards and oversight, and organize mutual aid and mutual defense when researchers are under attack.
Looking back at the history of food safety, auto safety, conservation, and medical research, each arena depended on visionary people who invested in protecting independent knowledge that could serve the common good. By giving a tax-deductible donation to the Coalition for Independent Technology Research, you can invest in the common good of our digital lives in the same way.
CITR is a fiscally sponsored project of Aspiration, a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, so gifts are tax deductible in the United States. To find out if your donation is deductible in your country contact your local tax advisor. Aspiration’s IRS tax ID number is 91-2106274.
